“The Act of Remembrance is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.”
– Royal British Legion
Everyone is invited to join the Royal British Legion, as 1st Seaton Scout Group, Seaton GirlGuiding, and the wider Seaton Community come together for the Act of Remembrance on Sunday 9th November 2025.
Scouting and GirlGuiding are uniformed organisations, and so Remembrance Sunday is one of the most important events in our annual programmes. Where possible, we would like all our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders to attend.
The short, 20-minute Act of Remembrance is an inclusive and non-religious community event held outside at the Seaton War Memorial (within the grounds of St.Gregory's Church).
This will be followed by an optional Service of Remembrance inside St.Gregory’s Church. You are then welcome to join us afterwards at St.Gregory's Church Centre for tea, coffee, squash and biscuits.
Going to an act of reflection counts towards your World challenge award − it brings together many of our Values of Scouting. Members will also earn the 'Poppy Fleur de Lis' blanket badge by attending (as used at the centre of the hand-woven rope poppies below).
Find out more about Our Proud History, and the ultimate sacrifice of five members from Seaton Scout Troop, founded in 1913, who served their country in The Great War (1914-1918).

We will meet together as our Seaton Scouting Family (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders, Adult Leaders, parents, family and friends). Spare poppies will be available, if needed.
With our Section Flags, we will walk the ½ mile on pavements to the Seaton War Memorial in the grounds of St.Gregory's Church. This will take us up to 20 minutes to arrive and be ready by 10.45am.
Seaton Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers will also join us to walk down.
This will take place outdoors at the Seaton War Memorial (within the grounds of St.Gregory's Church).
It will include the two-minute silence at 11am, followed by the laying of wreaths.
If your child is not staying for the optional Church Service, then please make sure you let your Section Leaders know as you collect your child at 11.10am.
This is an optional Service of Remembrance that will take place inside St.Gregory's Church. Flag Bearers from the Royal British Legion, Scouting and GirlGuiding will parade flags into Church.
If your child is not staying for the Remembrance Service, then please make sure you let your Section Leaders know as you collect your child at 11.10am.
There will be a collection on behalf of the RBL at the end of the Service. Please consider providing your child with a small donation to support their ongoing work (optional).
We would also welcome family members to stay, especially those with Squirrels or Beavers. There is an easy exit from the balcony seating for parents and restless children, if required!
It would be wonderful if you could join us and GirlGuiding, along with the wider Seaton community, for tea, coffee, squash and biscuits at St.Gregory's Church Centre after the service.
